Raise your hand if you feel teased by Saturday's weather, just to wake up to a rainy Monday.
(raises hand) Well, there's at least some great shows headed our way this week! Wednesday, April 2 the @dead__kennedys play the @tlaphilly Unsurprisingly the show is sold out, but resale tickets are available. Stop in @tmoms before (or after the show) for tasty bites and drinks. Lots of vegan options, too! This Friday, April 4 we have a whole host of shows for you to choose from. Philly local @emilydrinker has her album release party at @thefallserclub in East Falls. She plays with @fawziyyaheartmusic and tickets are still available. Go early and stop in @inrivaeastfalls for wood-oven pizza. If you're looking for folk punk and/or metal, @ortliebsphilly is your spot Friday night. The night starts with @sloptart.xoxo , Machete, and @red_king.phl (doors at 7p). Then, the @decibelmagazine Metal and Beer Fest after-party begins (doors at 11:30pm. Yes, you read that correctly). @moros_filth , @washingtondeathcult , and @fuuucktomb will rage well into the night (morning?) and will certainly be an excellent time. @standardtap just a couple blocks away, offers great food and drinks to keep you fueled through the music marathon of a night. So, who are you seeing?

The week may be starting rainy, but it’s officially spring and new tours are gearing up to swing through Philly. Here are a few shows on deck for this week:
Indie pop band @of_montreal stops at @undrgroundarts Thursday, March 27 as part of the Summer Twins 20th Anniversary Tour. Drop into @lovecitybrewing before the show, just a few blocks away. 70s era dance music your thing? If so (or if I’ve just made you curious) check out @nealfrancismusic at @uniontransfer on Friday, March 28. Start (or end) your night at @poisonheartbar just across the street. Can’t make it Friday night? Francis is also playing @wxpnfm Free at Noon the same day. @thurstonmoore58 (founding member of @sonicyouth_official ) will be playing @solarmythbar (the old Boot and Saddle) for two nights Friday March 28, and Saturday, March 29. While the shows are sold out (no surprise given the unique show at this intimate venue), you can join the waitlist. Arrive early and grab a glass of wine at the bar. Or, head a few blocks west across bar and go to @americansardine Who are you seeing this week? #phillymusic #livemusic #jawn #jams Whether you spent the weekend drinking green beer or stayed in during the gloomy weather (what happened to the expected sun and warmth?!), it’s a new week and a new show lineup. Here are three shows on deck this week in the Philly area:
For bluegrass fans, @yondermountain plays @ardmoremusichall Friday, March 21. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this group a handful of times before, and you won’t regret it. Swing by @izzys_ardmore for a drink and hand roll before the show. That same night, Chicago rock band @horsegirlmusic take the stage at @phillyuu Reminder the venue is BYOB, and if you’re in the area early, @butcherbarphl is a great spot for dinner, and you can grab a 6 pack from Monde Mart around the corner. Indie emo group @twiabp plays @phillyuu Saturday, March 22. Maybe you didn’t go to Friday’s show, so the recs above still apply. If you’re looking for something different, grab Thai at @erawan_thai_cuisine beforehand. Who are you seeing this week? #music #phillymusic Daylight is stretching into the evening and spring is peeking through (hello 65 degrees this week). We’re emerging from our winter cocoons, and whether you’re looking for an excuse to get out or just itching for some good jams, we’ve got a great lineup this week.
A little punk, a little rock, a little folk, singer/songwriter @richman_jonathan plays @uniontransfer Wednesday, March 12. With sounds reminiscent of the Velvet Underground and a vast discography spanning since the 70s, you’ve probably heard Richman’s work. Grab a margarita on the patio at @lachinescaphl before the show. Up for a drive to the shore? @rxbanditsofficial (yes, the ska-punk band who rose in popularity in the early 2000s) takes the stage at @asburylanes Thursday, March 13. Grab a pie at @portaasburypark or Mexican at @barriocosteroap for dinner. Legendary musician @kimdealmusicofficial (of the Pixies, The Breeders, and The Amps) released her first solo album in 2024, and is bringing it to Philly. She’s playing the @keswicktheatre Friday, March 14. Head a few blocks down to @robertsblock (conveniently next to the Septa regional rail stop) for a cocktail and bite before heading to the theater. Oh, and they’ve got a great patio if the weather is nice. Who are you seeing this week? #livemusic #phillymusic #jawn #jams Shows are really heating up in the Philly area for summer (anyone else snag @rilokileyofficial tickets?) but we’ve got some great shows lined up for this week, too.
For those who reside about an hour north of Philly (or don’t mind the drive), @rufuswainwright takes the stage at @sellersvilletheater Tuesday, March 4. I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing him perform in person, but his live recordings are a dream and I can’t even imagine what it’s like in person. Stop by @theperkeateryandpub (an old fav) for a giant pretzel and burger before the show. Reggae rock calling your name? Hawaiian group Pepper plays @bbowlphilly Saturday, March 8. See if you can snag a res for @middlechildclubhouse before the show. And another one for those up for a bit of a drive, @joshritter plays a special trio show (two, actually, a matinee and evening) with @markerelli and @drzachariah this Sunday, March 9 at @westartlanc in Lancaster. Josh Ritter is probably my most seen artist, and has a way of just absolutely captivating an audience. His solo and trio shows are always so special, and I’m sure this one will be worth the drive (or @amtrak). I’ll be at this show, and planning to stop by @mad_chef_craft_brewing for a pre show bite. Will I see you there? Note the evening show is sold out, and only a few tickets remain for the matinee. So who are you seeing this week? #livemusic #phillymusic |
