The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): Benefits Guidance for Employers

Brief Summary
As an employer, why do health and financial benefits matter to your employees?

Overview
When a prospective or current client of The Board of Pensions needs more information on benefits to offer their employees, such as what is offered and requirements, they are either directed towards the Board’s website or to call 800-PRESPLAN. While a dedicated team of benefits experts and client relations staff exist to help these clients, a lot of information is often repeated time and time again. There was a demonstrated need for concise, easily digestible content that would answer the “what” and “why” of benefits information for employer clients.

My Role
Producer, writer, vendor management, and editor

The Challenge
How do you distill down complicated benefits information into digestible content while still ensuring content compliance and accuracy?

The Process
The first step was to identify which benefits would be highlighted in video form and then prioritized based on needs of those on the client relations team. Benefits that were new for the upcoming plan year, Temporary and Long-Term Disability, were to be produced first, with eight additional videos following. Each video started as a content outline, which I drafted. I then worked with the communications team to expand upon the outline into a full script, relying on their benefits expertise to ensure content accuracy. The videos were completed using PowerPoint and Adobe Premiere. Each video started as a storyboard, using rough screens that I created in PowerPoint, before overseeing a presentation specialist who brought the slides to life. I then hired a voiceover artist to record the script. Each video went through several rounds of SME review to make sure accurate information was displayed.

The Solution
The final videos live in two playlists (for two distinct audiences) that are shared before client onboarding, to prospective clients, and are used during Annual Enrollment for 2021 and 2022.

Impact
By having this video series, the sales team is able to send these directly to prospective and current employers, allowing them to more efficiently answer follow-up questions and maintain consistent communication.
