Panda Workplace

January 31st, 2010

Last year, I worked at the Penn State Film and Video Equipment room.  Safe to say, it was always enjoyable to be at work, and not only did we get to play with fun film gear, but also got to enjoy the pandas (featured below), originally meant to be ripped apart and stuffed with a camcorder (oh yes, the intrigue).

Sky Gazing

It’s pictures like this that remind me of why I miss central Pennsylvania; you just can’t get skies like this in the suburbs.

So what State is our Union in?

“As a candidate, I promised that I would end this war, and that is what I am doing as President. We will have all of our combat troops out of Iraq by the end of this August. We will support the Iraqi government as they hold elections, and continue to partner with the Iraqi people to promote regional peace and prosperity. But make no mistake: this war is ending, and all of our troops are coming home.” -President Barack Obama, 2010 State of the Union Address

Lost Art

It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. -Oscar Wilde

While perusing my still photos last night, I came across shots I had taken of sketches I had done.

I had forgotten I used to sketch, so for your enjoyment, a sample of prior work (enjoyment may be an overuse, but maybe it will make you want to do something you haven’t done in a while).

A Case of the Mondays

Train

Today was one of those days where there was more rain outside than should be allowed, leaving time to philosophize, ponder, and create.  The above image was a creation of the day, the subject matter a side effect of too much time at the train station.

Sunday at Tiffany's

January 24th, 2010

So while I did not actually spend my Sunday kaputzing down the aisles at Tiffany’s, I did instead spend it curled up with coffee watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s on TCM.  I found it fitting that my favorite frame from it would be the photo of the day, courtesy of imdb.com.  Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard drenched from the rain distanced only by Cat, perfection.

Cupcake Saturday

While this wasn’t actually taken today, I did indeed take it.  And who isn’t inspired by dozens of cupcakes? (This is where the Martha Stewart connection may kick in for you)

Photo of the Day

January 22nd, 2010

“I once fell in love with you, just because the sky turned from gray to blue.”-CocoRosie

After a recent trip to Brooklyn, I’ve been inspired more than ever by my surroundings and the things occurring within them.  There are images everywhere, and, for me, that’s what has inspired my writings, scripts, and photographs.  So now, for your enjoyment, my first photo of the day.  This particular one, taken outside a Russian breakfast joint in Manhattan, is one of mine.  Though all may not be taken by yours truly, they will be of things that I find inspiring, and hope they may do the same for you.

New Year. New Start

January 11th, 2010

OK. So it’s been quite a while since the last update.  Do I have some great excuse? No. Things got busy, I didn’t know what to write, etc. etc. etc.

But it’s a New Year. Meaning a new start for this blogger.

I’ve never really been a fan of resolutions; I think the term “resolution” is just an excuse to claim to be able to do or not do something for an entire year that sounds impressive your friends and those who ask what your resolution is (ie. “This year I’m giving up all foods and drinks that are bad for me,” friends then respond in awe, you almost believe yourself, yet in a matter of days you are at the Dairy Queen).  So this determination to keep up with the blog more is, in fact, not a resolution, but instead a life choice.

Life choice sounds much more attainable than “resolution.”

So look forward to more quirky stories, my ventures in the film and video world, and other sarcastic comments from yours truly.
